Welcome to the first North Berwick Coastal Walking Festival!
6-8 August 2021
“Walking is the Superpower you didn’t know you had”
Prof S O’Mara, In Praise of Walking, 2019
We are all aware that walking helps our physical fitness, our body’s strength and ability to fight off disease but did you know it can also improve our mental health, lifting our mood and increasing our creativity.
Click on any of the routes highlighted on the map for more details. In the run-up to the Festival, which takes place between 6-8 August, walking notes and audio narrations will be available, so keep checking in for updates! Also, look out for QR codes on the routes for links. On the map, Green routes are easy, Blue are Moderate and Red are challenging.
During the three days of the NBC Walking Festival, we want to encourage as many people as possible to use their Superpower to get out and enjoy our beautiful North Berwick Coastal area. We have walks for all ages and abilities, using different routes across the ward. The walks will take you to some familiar, and some not so familiar, places in Aberlady, Drem, Gullane Dirleton and North Berwick.
The wonderful Mrs Booth has also produced three “Fascinating Finds” as downloads that will certainly add to the enjoyment for our younger walkers. And East Lothian Library Service has planned a special family trail!
Please note that the “Health Walks “ and the “Twin Peaks Challenge” will be led by walk leaders. They are free of charge but you do need to book as spaces may be limited. Details of how to book are on the relevant pages.
Whichever walks you do this weekend, we hope you will enjoy them and share your experiences, photos, comments via our social media, or email email@example.com, we look forward to hearing from you!
The North Berwick Coastal Walking Festival is a project of the North Berwick Coastal Health and Wellbeing Association, a member of the North Berwick Coastal Area Partnership.
